The Good: Obama! Congrats to our country and world!
The Bad: Proposition 8 and other states...I thought we have progressed a bit.
I can't say I'm shocked by the fact that states continue to take away the freedom to choose who one can marry. I suppose that those who can get married have a hard time relating. But I'm shocked that they can't put themselves into someone else's shoes. Do people honestly care who I want to marry, it's not like I'm asking the country to attend my wedding. It's not like I'm asking the country to take part in my bedroom activities. These bans on marriage are stemming from pure hate and that is a scary thing. Gays marrying would ruin the sanctity of marriage? Hasn't that already been ruined? Divorce??? People paying money to marry so they can stay in this country? It's sickening. Then across the street two men or two women are madly in love with each other, and they are forbidden to share in this sanctity called marriage. This sanctity which is just to precious and special to share with everyone. This sanctity so "respected" by heteros around our country. They have no legal rights to share 100% of each others life. No visitation rights, imagine your husband or wife is sick in a hospital and you can't see them. It's sad, sick and shameful. So those who continue to hate; our day will come. To those who are able to marry, consider yourself lucky. I have faith that our country will progress. Obama is a ray of hope in all of this. I'm thankful that Palin is no where near the White House right now, she is an evil and hateful woman with no business leaving her fine state of Alaska. I'm just elated that the democrats and maybe some finely chosen republicans are going to take charge and clean up the mess left from GW. In the end I hope our country is in a better place. For now, I'm putting my Palm Springs wedding on hold.
