Long Weekend = Long Week

I love a nice holiday weekend but it always makes the following week a bit hellish, it's almost like we have to cram the 5 days of work into 4.  I'm not complaining, I'm just saying.  These past few days I feel a bit jet lagged and I haven't even travelled.

Speaking of which, Vegas super soon.  Pool, drinks, sun, roulette, food and preciousness.

Back to the weekend...I had such a grand one, I'm feeling a bit autumnish so I baked some pumpkin pie, roasted a chicken, made brownies and drank bubbly.  I also spent some amazing moments with some amazing people, we took on Lark Street and were victorious.  Can't wait to do it again.  We also took on Circus Cafe, however we didn't win that battle, it was all downhill when we were approached to take part in a foursome!  I also spent one last day at the track, good times, even though our horse came in dead last.  I think it's still runnning.  The track season is over, happy to see it go, fall is here and winter is around the corner...blah...well my sauce is bubbling over, I must go!  Peace Possums!

Signature Dish

I was catching up with Top Chef and you always hear "signature dish", I always ask myself, what would be mine? For last night's dinner (FND instead of SND), I made roasted chicken w/ cheddar mashed potatoes and green beans, basic but delicious (no pictures, I was too hungry).  This might rank as my top go-to dish, it's perfect for company and pretty darn easy, just stuff the chicken, season and bake. Perhaps I should get a group of friends together and do some taste tests.

I went to Border's to buy a new cookbook, I didn't see anything that interested me.  That is a first, I always find something. When I got home I pulled out The Complete Robuchon cookbook.  It's currently marked with several post-it's.  I have a feeling this year will bring a slew of "French home cooking for the way we live now".  Well it's a nice long weekend and I have some relaxing to do.  Talk to you all next week, have a safe and declious Labor Day!

Another night another coffee

I have a tough time staying home at night, I always feel the need to be out and about. So where to go on a chilly Wednesday night? Starbucks! Comfy chairs, a hot soy latte, friends and having the opportunity to people watch. Along with the coffee I always enjoy M from *bucks. She is amazing and always makes our visits much more enjoyable. So Cheers to M!!!!

Socialites

10 years from now...

I kid, well...sort of, although what a life! After hanging about with the elite folks of Saratoga this weekend, it would be kind of cool to be a socialite. Not only do you get to attend all these amazing parties you may even get the chance to star in a reality TV show. Can we say "Real Housewives of Saratoga Springs"?

So how does one become a socialite? You have be confident, social, fun, kind, and a bit self absorbed.. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try and climb the social ladder, only to be on a reality show and get a spinoff. Honestly, I am currently surrounded by an amazing group of people so what more do I need socially? Not a single thing...and the way things have been going I don't think I need to be a socialite to have a reality show, my life is crazy enough.

When you have friends like mine...

...life is pretty damn good.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Life has been a flurry of activity these past couple days and the weekends are even worse (not that I'm complaining). I must share something that is perhaps one of the most heart warming moments of my life. Please bear with me as I hash out all the details.

As you may have heard, my Cher concert in Vegas was cancelled. Of course I was devastated. So when you have friends like mine, they did everything they could to make things better. I'll spare you the play-by-play as the video (which should be uploaded this week) speaks for itself. Most everyone at my work chipped in to hire a Cher impersonator to come in during lunch and perform for me. I was just taken back by the thoughtfulness. I'm truly blessed.

All the mushy stuff aside, it was great fun and I went to bed that night (and every night thereafter) thanking whoever was listening for all the great people in my life. October really is off to a wonderful start.

xoxo

PS: Expect some photos today!

What a month…

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. That’s the only word I can find to describe the last month. I find myself amazed at all the events which transpired over the last thirty or so days; the break-up, the drama, death, Cherless (I created a new word) perhaps a bit of loneliness. But the list of the bad does not compare to the good. Bear with me folks; I need to visually digest.
-Restoration; my mind and emotions were quite a mess and it feels great to have sorted most of it out. Some consider loneliness a bad thing, but it really makes you look at yourself; where you are now, where you were and where you want to go.
-Family; could they be anymore amazing. I haven’t always been the best son, brother or grandson, but to my family that doesn’t matter. Nothing matters. That is the true definition of unconditional love and for that I am grateful.
-Friends; could you have been anymore supportive and wonderful? I’m honored by your presence and constant support. True friends a diamond in the rough, lucky for me I have enough to rival Cartier.
-Truth; the truth always comes out. I’m grateful for that. The past month made me realize so much, both about myself and other people. The truth always conquers falsities.
-Renewal; there are some people out there who renewed my outlook on mankind. Thank you, the world doesn’t seem so bad after all.
-The Journey Home; home is a brilliant thing. Nothing beats it.
-Smiles; you only have so many minutes in a day but you can never have enough smiles to fill those minutes. The power of a smile is an amazing thing. Thanks to all those who have filled my life with smiles. In the end they always out number the frowns.

Perhaps a bit on the dramatic, but sometimes I feel the need to share. Peace and Love, it’s the only option.

Drying Out

Gosh, lay me out to dry. Weddings are just a terrible thing for me. I ALWAYS drink too much, always. I spent Saturday up north to share in the marriage of two amazing people, Alyson and Bogdan. They are such a beautiful couple. Bogdan is Romanian, and his friends are party animals. I don't think I drank that much in my life. It was insane. Needless to say I felt pretty bad the next morning. Let me take a moment to apolgize for the drunk dials. I was out of control, so if I said anything that offended, please forgive me, but whats a wedding without drunk dials. Today is a crazy day at work, not only am I

still tired, I have a lot of work to do since I'm departing on Wednesday for vacation (much needed if I do say so myself).
